Saint-Saëns: Cavatine (Orchestra)

March 20, 2016 at 11:00 am

My full orchestra version of Saint-Saëns’s Cavatine (available through the Cherry Classics catalog) occupies a special place in the tromone repertoire. The Cavatine is one of the only pieces for solo trombone written by a major Romantic era composer, and it is correspondingly popular. However, the lack of a large ensemble orchestration has limited the environments in which it can be played. This publication liberates the piece and allows it to be performed in any context the soloist desires.
